They say, “you get what you pay for” and this is is an entry in my jacket buying series that I’m making to actually discourage you from buying your Indy jacket from these websites. While it can be incredibly enticing to see sexy jacket shots, and a low, low price… just stop, check your head, and don’t do it.
Of course, I would be remiss to not post a disclaimer that you can find great Indy jackets on eBay, in particular, if someone’s selling a name brand jacket (like a Wested or a US Wings), on the platform, second-hand. But that’s a different scenario to these vendors selling no name jackets on there.
Just watch the video below. Look at the images on the Amazon listing that he buys from, then look at the jacket he actually gets. It looks like some brown plastic, stitched together by a goat to resemble a potato sack. And that’s no exaggeration. I feel a lot of second-hand embarrassment as he opens the box and takes out this monstrosity and tries to find reasons to like it. We’ve all been there – we get something in the mail that doesn’t really match our expectations and we try and justify it to ourselves while knowing, instantly, that it’s a major pile of hot garbage that we’ll be dispensing with, pronto.
Now consider the US$135 he pays for this sorry sack of $%#@ (and US$19 delivery, so a total of US$154), is a mere US$21 off what you can get a real leather Indy jacket for at What Price Glory. Really let that sink in. You can buy this ridiculous jacket, or a real jacket, for basically the same money.
Don’t buy new Indy jackets from no-name vendors, using generic imagery that you see across multiple listings. Nothing good will come of it, I promise you, no matter how amazing the price.
